Why are my Amazon fees higher now that we are in Q4?

Are you new to selling on Amazon and still figuring out all of the moving parts of the Seller Central platform? Amazon can be tricky, as there are a lot of areas to focus on, but one thing you need to stay on top of are your FBA fulfillment fees… especially as you enter fourth quarter (Q4).

Your Amazon pick & pack fees are higher now because we have now entered Amazon’s “Peak Fulfillment” period. The peak fulfillment rate increases started on October 15, 2022 and will last until January 14, 2023.

You may have noticed over the last couple of weeks an increase in your pick & pack fees and are wondering if Amazon made a mistake? Or worse, you made a mistake and need to confirm your product specifications again.

Don’t worry, this is not a measurement error or weight error by you. This year, Amazon has instituted a surcharge on pick & pack fees and has dubbed this fee tier, “Peak Fulfillment.” The peak fulfillment rate increases started on October 15, 2022 and will last until January 14, 2023.

Please see breakdown of these new Peak Fulfillment fees below:

This is the first time Amazon has implemented such a fee increase during this time of year. Before, it was only storage fees that increased during the busy Q4 season.

On average, this peak FBA fulfillment fee increase will be around $0.35. Now, that doesn’t sound like much, but when you factor in the additional 5% fuel and inflation surcharge implemented last April, plus the normal fulfillment fee increases Amazon does every year, things can start to add up.

So, please be sure to run your sales reports early this season so that you can get a clear idea of your margins. I would hate to see you not charging enough for your products and potentially losing money after all your hard work!
